I've had some friends ask me to share my MomMom's pound cake recipe that I posted about on Facebook. I thought, instead of a quick post on FB I would honor my MomMom, start a blog and include her in my very first post. After all, I've been wanting to start this blog FOREVER!
My MomMom(shortly before she passed) and E. E was 4 years old.
I have renamed what she called "Poor Man's Pound Cake". I'm sure she wouldn't mind me changing it to "Mom's MomMom's Pound Cake" only because my kids
I love seeing her handwriting every time I make this cake!
--After starting this post, I researched a little and I did find some recipes on the web with the poor man title. They are close but not the same as MomMom's. I'm sure there's one out there the same.
You can see them here and here if you'd like to compare. The second one also mentions about enjoying seeing the handwriting of their loved ones. How bout that?!--
Now here's her recipe....
Mom's MomMom's Pound Cake
3 cups flour
3 cups sugar
3 tsp baking powder
6 unbeaten eggs
1 cup milk
2 tsp vanilla flavoring
1/2 lb butter and 1/4 lb oleo (we just use 3/4 lb butter, 3 sticks) If not soft, cut in small pieces.
Mix all ingredients together in large bowl for 5 1/2 minutes at high speed.
Bake at 350* in a large, greased and floured tube pan for 1hr and 20 mins.
Super simple! ENJOY!
Do you have any family recipes that were never written down and just remembered? Care to share?
